Biography
Professor Wu is a Professor of Computer Science at Pomona College and chaired the department for three years. She previously taught at Indiana University, Bloomington for over a decade.
She
completed her Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Michigan, Ann
Arbor. She earned her M.S. degree from Indiana University, Bloomington and
M.S./B.S. degrees from Peking University, China.
Prof. Wu's research focuses on data representation, query languages, query
processing and optimization, indexing and security of data repositories for
relational, semi-structured and graph data. Prof. Wu's recent research
involves algebra for queries, normalization, indexing and security of XML
data repositories, storage and query of data on the Semantic Web, exact and
approximate search on graph data, data management in parallel computing
environments, and analysis of social media data for social-economical insights.

In recognition of her works in teaching, Prof. Wu received the Wig Distinguished Professor award for excellence in teaching at Pomona College, two Indiana University Trustee's Teaching Awards, an Inspirational Teaching Award of the School of Informatics and Computing, and was named advisor of the year by WIC (Women in Computer). She also received Faculty Service Award, in recognition of her service as the Graduate Director of the Computer Science program at Indiana University.
