Documentation and Handouts

The following documents provide information on the standard Java libraries and the additional libraries we have developed for this course:

  • Our own highly-abbreviated introduction to command-line tools
  • The Gnu Emacs Manual (probably more than you want to know). There is also an emacs quick reference guide. We also have our own Emacs Hints. For the Macintosh computers in the lab, we use the Aquamacs version of emacs.
  • The Official Subversion Book. Chapters 1 and 2 and the "High-speed Tutorial" in Appendix A ought to be enough. There is a more concise page about Subversion from HMC. The Subversion project has a home page and a FAQ.
  • The Gnu Make Manual. Chapters 1 through 3 are sufficient for our purposes. The Harvey Mudd College Computer Science Department has a short and helpful page about make.
